Dune: Awakening Hotfix Smooths Out Patch 1.1.15.0’s Rough Edges—Mostly

Funcom irons out more Dune Awakening bugs.

Funcom is back with another round of fixes for Dune: Awakening, specifically for some of the things that Patch 1.1.15.0 broke when it came out earlier this week. While recent days have been dominated by player complaints over unexpected PvP fiasco in the Deep Desert, this hotfix is all about stability, fixing key bugs, and closing off a few pesky exploits.

Top of the list is a fix for players getting locked out of the game after disconnecting or crashing while swapping maps or servers. It also addresses a rare bug where using vulture mode to cross sector borders could cause ornithopters to fall through the terrain, turning pricey vehicles into permanent sandworm snacks. On top of that, loot drops in the Deep Desert have been fixed to ensure that components spawn correctly, and an exploit involving rockets targeting players out of sight has been shut down.

These fixes build on the broader changes introduced with Patch 1.1.15.0. That said patch expanded Tier 6 resource spawns across more of the PvE Deep Desert, randomized loot container respawn timers, and increased spice field spawns—small but useful tweaks aimed at making resource gathering less of a grind. PvP also saw some balance adjustments, including a longer delay for leaving security zones to curb border camping, plus improvements to Landsraad task contributions and crafting material drops.

Unfortunately, it also inadvertently switched some PvE zones to PvP, resulting in destroyed bases, lost loot, and plenty of player frustration. Funcom has since apologized for the blunder and confirmed that affected players will receive reimbursements for lost items and vehicles.   • Improved client and server stability.
  • Fixed an issue where players who disconnected or crashed during a respawn on a different map or server would get a timeout error, preventing them from accessing the game.
  • Fixed a rare issue where using vulture mode to cross sector borders in the Deep Desert could cause the ornithopter to fall beneath the terrain and be lost.
  • Fixed an issue where sometimes components could fail to spawn in Deep Desert loot.
  • Fixed an issue that allowed using rockets to target players out of sight.
