Ubisoft briefly published a news post announcing a live-action Far Cry TV series in the works at FX, only to swiftly take it down hours later—triggering a wave of leaks, screenshot shares, and speculation across social media.
According to the fleeting announcement spotted by Eurogamer, the show will be an anthology drama, where each season takes place in a new world with a different cast—mirroring the standalone storytelling approach of the Far Cry games.
Behind the series are heavyweight names in TV: Fargo creator Noah Hawley is set to serve as showrunner, while Rob McElhenney—from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia (now going by Rob Mac)—will both star in and executive produce. Ubisoft’s own Margaret Boykin praised the project as “a psychological tailspin that doesn’t shy away from the darkest and most absurd parts of humanity,” calling it a perfect match for FX’s bold storytelling style.
Ubisoft has not commented on the removal or confirmed whether the project is still in active development, but the leak amplified attention to the publisher’s broader media strategy—one that includes Netflix’s confirmed Assassin’s Creed series, a planned Splinter Cell animated show, and others in various stages of development.
