You know that thrill when you finally jump back into a beloved franchise after years of wondering if it’s gone for good? After 15 years, Darksiders fans will be able to experience just that soon… ish. Darksiders 4 was officially announced last month, and it’s not just another prequel or side story—the next installment in the cult hit action adventure series picks up right where the original ended.

Developed by Gunfire Games and published by THQ Nordic, the long-awaited sequel was unveiled alongside a teaser trailer. The kind that gives longtime fans goosebumps as War returns to the fray with confirmation his Horsemen buddies will also be making a comeback. Yes, War, Death, Fury, and Strife will all be playable, each with unique combat styles and abilities.

Fans will also get the bonus drop of a 2–4 player online co-op, a first for the mainline series. Team up with friends and slash through post-apocalyptic Earth together—something that injects fresh multiplayer dynamism into a franchise that’s always been personal and solo.

Story-wise, this is the sequel we’ve been waiting for. It picks up immediately after the original Darksiders, finally resolving the cliffhanger with War ready to storm Heaven and Hell—and now, he’s not alone.

Darksiders 4 will launch on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, though no release date is confirmed just yet. Fans can wishlist it now to stay alerted when preorders go live. If you’ve been jonesing to trot with all four Horsemen—and who hasn’t?—this is shaping up to be the Darksiders game fans have been craving for over 15 years. Stay tuned for gameplay reveals, release windows, and more as we get it.
