SCP-Inspired Extraction Shooter Active Matter Hits Early Access

Extraction meets weird things that go bump in the night.

The extraction shooter scene just got a new contender. Gaijin Entertainment and Matter Team have launched the Early Version of Active Matter, which is basically Early Access by another name. Players who buy in through the Gaijin Store can dive into the playable build today, while full releases for Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox are planned for 2026.

Active Matter is a hardcore PvPvE shooter with strong survival and horror elements. Its SCP-inspired design leans into anomalies and unsettling enemies. For those unfamiliar, SCP refers to a long-running online fiction project about a shadowy “Secure, Contain, Protect” foundation cataloguing bizarre objects, monsters, and phenomena. The idea has influenced dozens of horror games, and Active Matter taps into that vibe with gravity-warping zones, corrupted creatures, and unpredictable hazards that push players to adapt.

The Early Version includes dozens of raids across Dalniy Island and lush African landscapes. You can go in solo or as a squad of three. PvPvE missions pit you against both corrupted monsters and rival human squads fighting for the same loot, while isolated PvE raids let you explore the multiverse without player interference. Along the way, anomalies shake up the battlefield: twisted gravity zones let you run along ceilings, ball lightning vaporizes anything in its path, and massive boss fights test whether enemies might briefly unite against a bigger threat. Pure PvP battles are also available on the global “Battle for the Nexus” map, set in unique arenas like futuristic skyscrapers and Aztec-style temples—without the risk of losing your gear on death.

Active Matter is available in four editions and is currently being offered at “Early Version” pricing on the Gaijin Store. The Standard Edition will set you back $29.99 and comes with starter gear, in-game credits, raid passes, and basic weapons to get you going. The Advanced Edition, priced at $49.98, adds more of everything—extra credits, raid passes, and upgraded equipment. The Premium Edition ($79.97) ramps it up again with even bigger resource bundles, cosmetics, and exclusive extras like vehicles and companion drones. Finally, the Elite Squad Edition ($120) includes everything from Premium plus two additional copies of the Standard Edition so you can bring friends into the fight.

With its mix of PvPvE raids, SCP-style anomalies, and tactical gunplay, Active Matter aims to carve out a space alongside genre heavyweights like Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown. Early adopters can start playing now, while everyone else will see the full launch across more platforms in 2026.
