EA is taking aim at the competition in its new Battlefield 6 live-action trailer. The trailer throws a deliberate jab at Call of Duty’s celebrity-filled ads by blowing up Zac Efron, Jimmy Butler, Morgan Wallen, and Paddy Pimblett before pivoting into serious battlefield action.
The trailer opens with the stars walking in tactical gear like an action movie squad. Efron utters, “We’re here to do one thing, one thing…” and before the line can land, the squad is obliterated by a missile. A soldier emerges from smoke, asks “Who was that?” and another replies, “Doesn’t matter. Let’s move.” From there, viewers are plunged into a montage of modern infantry, vehicles, urban warfare, and destructive setpieces.
EA’s official Battlefield 6 page highlights many of the settings teased in the footage: burning New York City streets, elite Dagger 13 units pushing through devastated blocks, and large-scale destruction tearing the battlefield apart. The trailer ends with the release date of October 10, locking in the game’s highly anticipated launch.
The shade thrown at Call of Duty feels deliberate, and the intent couldn’t be clearer—Battlefield 6 is positioning itself as the grittier, more grounded alternative. By lampooning its rival’s ad style, EA is staking its claim on authenticity and spectacle over celebrity cameos with cameos of its own.
This trailer is more marketing statement than gameplay tease, but it doesn’t shy from the promise of spectacle. If it’s any hint, Battlefield 6 aims to restore the franchise’s edge, blending cinematic flair with raw battlefield depth.
