For many players, Call of Duty: Warzone has always been about Verdansk. The map defined the battle royale when it launched in 2020, disappeared in 2021, and made a triumphant return earlier this year that brought players back in droves. Now, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on the horizon, Activision is looking to strike a balance between the old and the new by expanding Resurgence with a brand-new map called Haven’s Hollow, while keeping Verdansk as the central battleground for the game’s core modes.

Haven’s Hollow drops players into Liberty Falls, a town previously featured in Black Ops 6 Zombies. Despite its zombie-themed roots, the new map dials back the undead aesthetic in favor of a more vibrant, color-rich setting. Verdansk, meanwhile, isn’t going anywhere. Its staying power makes Activision’s decision to keep it an obvious one, and to keep things fresh, two new Points of Interest are being added: Factory, returning near Superstore, and Signal Station.

Alongside the map updates, Activision is also making some big adjustments to loadouts and movement in Warzone. Guns will now be limited to five attachments, Wildcards are being removed, and Overkill becomes the baseline option. Movement is also being reworked: Tactical Sprint is no longer standard but will return as a Sprinter Perk, while the Combat Roll mechanic from Black Ops 7 is being folded into a new Mountaineer Perk. Loot pools are also being expanded with more curated weapon builds added to ground drops.

All of this was revealed during the Call of Duty: NEXT showcase, which also confirmed that Black Ops 7 will officially be launching on November 14, with full Warzone integration rolling out at the same time. The event positioned Haven’s Hollow and Verdansk’s new POIs as a bridge between Warzone’s established identity and the incoming changes tied to Black Ops 7.

For Resurgence fans, Haven’s Hollow offers a fresh battlefield to master, while Verdansk continues to anchor the game with its history and familiarity while tweaking the Warzone meta. Between the new content and quality-of-life adjustments, Call of Duty: Warzone seems poised to balance nostalgia with the push toward its next era.
