The war rages on in Enlisted, and this time it’s headed deep into the forests of Brandenburg. Gaijin Entertainment and Darkflow Software have officially rolled out Forest Shadows, the latest major update for their large-scale World War II shooter—and it’s packing new content, fresh visuals, and a healthy dose of tactical mayhem.
At the center of the update is the expanded Seelow Heights map, now featuring the brand-new “Wald” mission. Set in a dense forest dotted with a small town’s battered streets, Wald throws players into gritty, close-quarters combat where terrain knowledge, flanking, and quick reactions matter. The mission is available across Confrontation, Destruction, and Invasion modes, pushing players to rethink their usual tactics.
To help players blend into the forest’s shadows (or at least look cooler while dying), two new elite squads enter the fight:
- The British Commandos, armed with Thompson M1 submachine guns.
- The Werwolves, a German unit packing StG 44 assault rifles with suppressors and camouflage.
Both squads bring stealthy style to the frontlines—perfect for sneaky ambushes or going full Rambo.
The Forest Shadows update isn’t just about new gear and maps, though. It also delivers a significant visual overhaul. Battles now pop with realistic bullet impacts, improved explosions, better smoke and fire effects, and newly enhanced destruction physics. Even ricochets have been reworked to behave more authentically. If you’ve ever wanted to watch tank shells rip through scenery in gorgeous slow-motion chaos, this patch is your moment.
The update also adds:
- Four new weapons: including the AVT-40 20, M2 Carbine sawoff, Thompson M1 (S), and StG 44 (S).
- Five new vehicles: such as the M36 GMC, Jagdpanther G1, and the delightfully absurd Soviet M72 motorcycle with mounted machine gun.
- New nationality customization options for soldiers, letting Axis players choose between German and Italian identities, while Allied soldiers can now toggle between British and American. Voice lines, appearances, and names update accordingly.
Gaijin has also introduced long-requested quality-of-life tweaks:
- An Incognito Mode to hide online status.
- A mission rating system for better feedback loops.
- Overhauls to AI behavior, destructible environments, and explosion physics.
Meanwhile, for cosmetics fans, the update slashes the cost of appearance changes and introduces a new Silver Chest—“Myansera Arsenal”—available until July 16, with rare cosmetics and weapons up for grabs.
