Genshin Impact Reminder: Last Chance to Claim a Free 5-Star Constellation

FOMO hits different when it’s a free 5-star.

For the first time since its 2020 debut, Genshin Impact is letting players earn free 5-star Constellations, a major shake-up for HoYoverse’s massively popular open-world RPG. The ongoing “To Temper Thyself and Journey Far” event lets players unlock a Stella Fortuna for a 5-star character they already own, but there’s a catch: if you don’t start the grind this week, you’ll miss out on the first reward cycle entirely.

The event began alongside Version 6.0, dubbed Luna I, which launched on September 10, and has now been running for nearly a month. With the event entering its fourth week, players who haven’t yet completed their weekly training goals are nearing their final chance to qualify for the reward. You’ll need to complete eight weeks of progress within the 12-week window to earn the free Stella Fortuna, meaning anyone starting late will fall short of the requirement. Each week’s goal involves claiming rewards from four daily commissions and spending 120 Original Resin at least five times to stay on track.

There are a few requirements before you can jump in. You’ll need to be Adventure Rank 14 or higher and have completed both the Prologue: “Act I – The Outlander Who Caught the Wind” and the “Welcome to the Adventurer’s Guild” world quest. The free Constellation can only be used on a 5-star character you already own, meaning it won’t unlock new heroes.

Each event season will grant up to four Constellations per year, and the program is expected to repeat every three months. The current pool includes standard 5-star characters such as Diluc, Jean, Keqing, Mona, and Qiqi, though limited-time event characters aren’t eligible, at least for now.

While players have praised HoYoverse for finally giving away a 5-star Constellation without relying on gacha luck, some have pointed out the system’s FOMO-driven design. As one of the biggest gacha games in the world, Genshin Impact has long tied power progression to random pulls, making this structured event a welcome change for free-to-play players. Since weekly progress can’t be recovered once missed, failing to log in during the first week means waiting until the next 12-week cycle for another chance.

Still, it’s a significant moment for Genshin Impact. After five years of wish-only 5-stars, HoYoverse’s new progression system feels like a long-overdue reward for consistent players and a smart way to keep the anime action RPG’s community engaged between major updates. Just make sure you log in and start your training before the window closes.
