Genshin Impact’s big annual update, Version Luna I, is live today to celebrate the game’s fifth anniversary, and it brings players to Nod-Krai, a snow-covered, lunar-touched region that completes Teyvat’s seven-region map.
This new area picks up right after Liyue’s storyline, opening with an Archon Quest that sees the Fatui Harbinger known as “Marionette” tightening her grip over Nod-Krai as a lunar-power scheme unfolds. Players meet allies like Lauma of the Frostmoon Scions, Fkins in the midst of the Wild Hunt, and even Columbina — now revered locally as the Moon Maiden.
Three new characters also join the roster: Lauma, a 5-star Dendro Catalyst wielder who introduces the Lunar-Bloom reaction; Flins, a 5-star Electro Polearm fighter whose attacks charge under the full moon; and Aino, a 4-star Claymore engineer who can be recruited for free by progressing through the new questline.
Exploration is getting richer too. Lauma earns reverence from wildlife and locals, Flins’ lantern detects hidden activity, and a new “Meeting Points” system lets players unlock personal character moments while exploring. Free gifts for players include a Standard Wish 5-star character, 1,600 Primogems, 10 Intertwined Fates, and Nod-Krai-themed gadgets via in-game mail.
Behind the scenes, the fan art showcase HoYoFair is back with “Parallels Meet,” a community event airing later this month.
