Konami just announced at Tokyo Game Show that they’ll be rolling out Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater’s long-promised Fox Hunt multiplayer mode on October 30 with no microtransactions but also no cross-platform play.
MGS Delta launched on August 28 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S as a faithful remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, praised for its visual overhaul and updated controls. Konami had already teased multiplayer prior to release, but Fox Hunt missed the launch build, leaving fans waiting for a post-launch rollout.
Fox Hunt will support up to 12 players across two main modes: Survival Capture, where squads scramble to secure limited Kerotan frogs, and Survival Intrude, where shrinking control zones force confrontations. Players equip the AT-CAMO suit for adaptive camouflage and use Naked Sense to detect enemies or items, balancing information with vulnerability.
However, the feature comes with restrictions. Fox Hunt will launch without cross-platform matchmaking, locking players to their platform ecosystems, and private cross-play matches won’t be supported either. While Konami emphasized there will be no microtransactions, the lack of cross-play may prove to be a stumbling block for long-term matchmaking health.
Fox Hunt’s arrival marks the first big step for MGS Delta beyond its campaign, but whether this multiplayer experiment thrives will depend on whether platform-locked communities can sustain it.
