Amazon Games has officially revealed the next major update for New World: Aeternum, titled Season 10: Nighthaven. The expansion brings a new zone, reworked progression systems, and fresh endgame activities designed to reignite player interest and will be available as a free update for all Aeternum owners on October 13, 2025.
Set in a land long hidden from Aeternum’s reach, Nighthaven introduces a realm ruled by a mysterious king, filled with ancient ruins, shifting alliances, and creatures that blur the line between man and beast. Players will embark on a new story centered around the missing Tear of Gaea, taken by Morgaine after the events of the Elysian Wilds arc, while uncovering the secrets behind the night-bound kingdom itself.
The update adds two major pieces of endgame content: the Catacombs, a three-player, procedurally generated dungeon that challenges players to delve deeper for greater rewards or retreat before losing everything, and the Isle of Night, a ten-player raid featuring new bosses, environmental puzzles, and large-scale encounters. Together, they serve as the centerpiece of Nighthaven’s renewed focus on risk-versus-reward gameplay.
Alongside the new content, Amazon is introducing one of the biggest progression reworks since launch. The level cap rises to 70, and the Gear Score ceiling increases from 725 to 800, with PvP gear scaling to 775. Equipment can now be customized using Perk Charms, which allow up to four different socket types for defensive, offensive, and skill-based bonuses. True Set Bonuses are also being added for the first time, letting players activate effects across multiple gear pieces rather than relying on isolated stats.
Endgame crafting and gear management are seeing major adjustments as well. The Umbral Shards system is now a capped currency, limited to a wallet of 1,000 with a weekly earn limit to maintain balance. Meanwhile, the older “Perk” system is being retired, shifting attribute points back into leveling and offering more freedom through the new charm-based modding approach.
Taken together, these changes signal that Nighthaven is more than just another seasonal update. It marks a renewed push to modernize New World’s systems and recapture the exploratory, high-risk feel that first defined its launch. The expansion builds directly on feedback from Elysian Wilds and earlier seasons, addressing long-standing issues with progression pacing and endgame diversity.
For Amazon Games, it’s another attempt to revitalize a title that has seen its share of highs and lows. Earlier expansions such as Brimstone Sands, Rise of the Angry Earth, and Elysian Wilds added depth and zones but often struggled to keep momentum. Nighthaven aims to break that cycle by delivering meaningful systemic changes rather than incremental content.
With Nighthaven launching free for all Aeternum owners, new dungeons and raids to explore, and a complete overhaul of leveling and loot systems, New World is positioning itself for a fresh start. Whether this expansion reignites the player base or simply steadies the ship will depend on how well these ambitious changes land once players step into the shadows of Nighthaven.
