Roguelikes aren’t exactly in short supply these days, but finding one that tries something genuinely new is rarer. That’s the pitch behind Out of Time, which officially launched on PC via the Epic Games Store earlier this week. The multiplayer co-op roguelike throws players into fractured timelines where past, present, and future collide in unpredictable runs.
Developed by Manticore Games, Out of Time pitches itself as a fast-paced, multiplayer co-op roguelike where squad coordination, gear choices, and split-second decisions decide your fate. At launch, three eras are playable—medieval, modern, and wasteland—with solarpunk coming later this year.
One of the game’s most ambitious hooks is its gear system. Manticore claims there are 190 million possible gear combinations, giving players massive customization across loadouts and build options. The idea is to let players mix and match wildly different equipment from across timelines—imagine wielding a sword from a medieval era while outfitted with future tech enhancements.
Out of Time is a buy-to-play title with a $29.99 price tag, and Manticore is already working to make that investment worth it. Future updates are set to bring additional eras, PvP modes, and user-generated content support. The game runs on the studio’s in-house, Roblox-styled Core Games platform combined with Unreal Engine 5 to support adaptability and fast feature iteration.
The game is also confirmed to be coming soon to Steam, with console versions, dedicated PvP modes, and even a MOBA-style experience all planned for 2026. That slate of updates aims to expand Out of Time well beyond its initial co-op focus. For now, Epic Games Store players can dive in and see whether the mix of timelines, systems, and co-op synergy clicks as intended.
It’s early days, but Out of Time is staking a claim in a crowded genre by combining co-op roguelike fundamentals with insane gear variety and cross-era chaos. Whether it can deliver long-term engagement will depend on balance, content pacing, and how well future modes and platform expansions land. Keep an eye on it—and we’ll be watching for updates too.
