Throne and Liberty officially turned one last week, and NCSoft marked the milestone with Update 3.2.0, a sweeping patch that rolled out new events, system updates, and combat adjustments. The anniversary update also focused on refining core systems while outlining the MMO’s broader shift toward evolving seasonal play.
To celebrate the occasion, the “Fortune’s Calling” event has returned with improved Fortune Stone drop rates and upgraded redemption rewards, headlined by the Golden Archboss Weapon Selection Chest. A special Anniversary Gift Box has also been distributed, containing cosmetics, fireworks, entropy shards, chaos prisms, and other limited-time goodies. Meanwhile, the Oremong Hide-and-Seek event has made a comeback with new housing decorations, titles, and collectible chests.
Beyond the festivities, Update 3.2.0 introduced an extensive suite of fixes and balance changes. Housing systems have received clearer confirmation prompts and tutorial guidance for first-time owners. Persistent movement bugs, such as characters getting stuck in midair, have been corrected, and orb items that previously failed to display properly now function as intended.
In Battlegrounds, match availability has been expanded to 24-hour access, and a dedicated scoreboard keybind has also been added for easier score checking. The post-match screen should also now show clearer result information in addition to matchmaking stability improvements. Class morphs like Battle Commander and Healing Master now recover health immediately while crafting systems now allow new bulk processing recipes of up to 10× the material, though at half experience gain and no “Great Success” chance. Gathering, fishing, and UI issues have likewise been smoothed out.
Dungeon and raid content have also received some polish. Missing assets and invisible walls in Abyssal Dungeon maps have been fixed, as well as marker inconsistencies in Syleus’s Floor. Raid mechanics tied to shield and fear interrupts have additionally been tightened up for greater reliability.
A key focus of Update 3.2.0 was combat balance. Orb specializations such as Stellar Dash, Temporal Leap, and Afterimage Explosion have been adjusted for more consistent cooldowns and damage scaling. Class masteries have also been fine-tuned to ensure that abilities trigger as intended, closing gaps in the meta that previously caused player frustration.
Perhaps most importantly, the anniversary update has revealed NCSoft’s long-term update plans. Rather than major expansion releases, Throne and Liberty is leaning toward a seasonal content model, with recurring meta shifts, time-limited events, and progressive balancing updates. So far, the community response has been mixed. Many players have praised the devs’ transparency and faster patch cadence, but others, particularly healers, have voiced concerns about over-tuned rune requirements and nerfs that make group content less forgiving.
Still, it’s clear that Throne and Liberty has come a long way since launch. After a year of server merges, system overhauls, and experimental design changes, Update 3.2.0 has reaffirmed NCSoft’s commitment to rebuilding its foundation. Whether this new approach can sustain long-term player engagement remains to be seen—but for now, Aion’s spiritual successor seems determined to hold its ground in the modern MMO landscape.
