World of Warcraft’s Housing System Comes Early—But Only If You Preorder

Build first, brag early.

If you’ve been dreaming of a cozy little spot in Azeroth to stash your loot and show off your pixelated taste in furniture, there’s good news… and then there’s Blizzard news. World of Warcraft’s long-awaited housing system is finally on the way—but if you want early access, you’ll need to preorder the Midnight expansion first.

Bundles leaked from the in-game shop (spotted by Wowhead and confirmed by dataminers doing the Light’s work) show that all three Midnight editions come with early housing access, while the Epic Edition (yours for just $90) tosses in a few extra goodies: a three-day expansion head start, beta access, and the exclusive Midnight Housing Bundle featuring Light- and Void-themed furniture. Because nothing says “cozy” like morally ambiguous interior design.

Blizzard hasn’t formally commented yet, but this follows the same playbook as The War Within, where early expansion access was similarly pay-gated.

According to developer blogs, the new housing system introduces customizable “Neighborhoods” in Founder’s Point (Alliance) and Razorwind Shores (Horde). Players can claim plots, tailor privacy settings, and decorate to their heart’s content. Think Animal Crossing meets garrison-level ambition, minus Tom Nook but with more fel energy.

Forum reactions? Mixed, as always. Some players are thrilled the system is finally becoming real. Others are grumbling that tying early access to a preorder paywall feels a little on-the-nose—even if it’s now Blizzard tradition. And let’s be honest: half of them are going to preorder anyway, just to make sure they can put down their roots before the housing rush.

Blizzard will likely drop more information during the Midnight expansion’s official reveal at Gamescom 2025, but until then, just know that Azeroth’s digital suburbs are nearly here… if you’re willing to sign on the dotted line early.
