Zenless Zone Zero is going full beach episode with Version 2.1: The Impending Crash of Waves, splashing onto servers July 16. If you’ve ever wanted to take a break from Hollow-hunting to hit the surf, help renovate a struggling seaside resort, and maybe throw a candy bomb or two—this update’s got you covered.

HoYoverse’s latest expansion adds two sunny new regions: Sailume Bay and Fantasy Resort. Sailume Bay, tucked under the cliffs of Failume Heights, sets the stage for the next big story chapter, where Proxies team up with the Spook Shack crew to investigate shady dealings involving the Exaltists. Meanwhile, the once-glamorous Fantasy Resort has seen better days, and it’s up to you and some unlikely allies to bring the fun back to this faded paradise—one surfing challenge, yacht trip, and sea battle at a time.

Joining the growing roster are two new S-Rank waifus, err… Spook Shack agents. First up: Ukinami Yuzuha, who teams up with her trusty tanuki, Kama, to throw candy bombs and boost Anomaly Buildup with her signature Sweet Scare. Basically, she makes blowing things up look adorable. Then there’s Alice Thymefield, a sharp-dressed swordfighter with noble blood and a deadly blade who thrives on building up Blade Etiquette—fancy name, serious damage. Miss Esme, an equally stylish S-Rank Bangboo, also joins the mix with buffs that’ll keep your team alive and energized.

For those chasing reruns, Miyabi (S-Rank Frost Anomaly) and Yanagi (S-Rank Electric Anomaly) return in the Version 2.1 banners, just in case you missed them the first time.

But don’t expect the summer fun to stop at combat. The Fantasy Resort is packed with activities:

  • Surfing minigames where you dodge obstacles and score power-ups.
  • Yacht-based sea battles that bring arcade chaos to the high seas.
  • Fishing spots with new species and streamlined mechanics so you can actually relax.
  • And of course—new summer-themed outfits for Yuzuha, Alice, and the Proxies. (Yes, swimsuits are involved. Don’t act surprised.)

For Proxies looking for a different kind of grind, the update also introduces Bangboo Auto Battler “En-Nah” Chess Legend, complete with PvP mode, plus an upgraded Simulated Battle Trial with better scoring and rewards for tactical mastery. So whether you’re here for the sun, the story, or the spreadsheets, there’s plenty to keep you busy.

To sweeten the deal, HoYoverse is handing out 1,600 free Polychromes to all players before Version 2.1 wraps up—a nice little thank-you for sticking around and saving the world between beach parties.
